I created these little cartoons using Adobe Illustrator. The style was based on illustrations chosen by the Lead Artist, but I was given a fair amount of leeway to interpret. The writers would send me a brief description of the types of objects the image should contain, along with the text for the science joke. I then drew a rough pencil sketch, scanned it and sent it to the Lead for approval. Once I received the okay, I’d use the sketch as an outline and finished the illustration in software.
